CAD Designer/Drafter

Dynamic 3D Solutions, LLC has an immediate opening for a CAD Designer/Drafter in our Columbia, IL office.  Experience can range from entry level to 5 years, although all experience will still be considered for this and other positions.

Description & Duties

  • Operate computer aided design (CAD) software to perform drafting, design and documentation
  • General drafting, 3D modeling and other design duties
  • Generate flow diagrams and/or P&IDs using intelligent database driven plant design software
  • Receive training on AutoCAD Plant3D plant design software
  • Learn the basics of plant layout and piping design
  • Generate isometrics, plan & elevation drawings, bills of material, etc.
  • Prepare detail drawings from sketches
  • Collaborate with other designers, vendors and project engineers in order to support project needs
  • Support the Project Manager or Lead Designer to achieve project goals
  • Assist Lead Designer to 3D model pumps, tanks and other equipment from vendor drawings
  • Ability to maintain strict, aggressive project schedules
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Assist in 3D laser scanning of client sites, both in the St. Louis area and worldwide
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations
  • Conduct activities in a safe, clean and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment

Daily work is performed in an office.  Occasionally site visits to an uncontrolled atmosphere are required.  Exposure to harsh conditions such as heat, cold, dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures for short periods of time is possible.  Must be able to occasionally travel to jobsites.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.   While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs or ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.  Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required.   

Education & Experience

Associates Degree in Drafting or Industrial Design, or equivalent experience, or, currently enrolled in CAD college program

Basic Qualifications (required skills/experience)

  • Education or training in AutoCAD
  • 0-5 years experience in piping, mechanical or industrial design
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications (desired skills/experience)

  • Some education or training in Revit
